The clients wanted an additional garage with storage space as well as a TV room /snug.
They opted for the traditional Oak Frame with queen post structural frames creating feature elements into a loft space. They were hugely enthusiastic about using green oak for the short and long term characteristics of both visual and structural elements. Using this light weight framing was essential due to the type of foundations and geological challenges. The clients entrusted us with works during their absence as well as with them present. The design incorporated a sheltered patio area at the garden side of the structure; exposed beam work contrasting with the painting created a quiet spot hidden from the main access of the house from which to enjoy the garden.
"Simon Notley and his Team at Townsend Timber have been a joy to deal with. Their approach is always friendly and flexible and their follow up is superb. Simon oversaw the project at home while we were overseas and we were able to make excellent progress via "Skype". Meanwhile the team were very sensitive to our neighbours comments and wishes during periods of intense disruption. The build quality is excellent and the snagging was handled without question. We have recommended Townsend Timber to many of our friends and we will continue to do so. "
